What is Samudra समुद्र
Samudra (समुद्र) means “the gathering together of waters” in the ancient language of Sanskrit.
The ocean is our collective origin story. Our original home. She hosts the most diverse ecosystem on the planet, she regulates our climate, and connects every continent through her waters. If there is one thing we share, it is the ocean. With this blessing comes the responsibility to protect and care for her well-being. There is an ocean that exists inside of all of us as well, whose tides ebb and flow with the seasons of our emotional nature.
Ayurveda is a coming home to the Self, to the awareness of the body, mind, spirit, and our unique healing capacity. Ayurveda is the science and the art of life. Through becoming aware of the elements as they express within and through us, we are able to come into balance, and heal ourselves. Through this art of witnessing and alignment we are able to come home, again and again, to our core connection with all that exists in this universe.
I was born in a little town next to the Pacific ocean, and spent my childhood at or along her shore, playing in the waves, rolling down the dunes, biking on the path along the water, and watching the sunsets with my family. The ocean has always generously shown me timeless beauty, unending grace, divinity, and brought me supreme peace, without fail, when ever I most needed it.
I believe that only when we are healing ourselves, can we extend a hand to heal others. Only when we are at home in our Self, can we recognize the divinity in all that surrounds us, and begin to heal the world. Samudra is an invitation to you to collaborate with the divine elements in your own healing journey.
